about

There is a never ending battle we all face each day. Within our own minds, outwardly to others including friends and family, and more recently, our online lives where the battle rages on-- regarding any topic large or small, from who is the worst person in the world, or what you should or should not say/do, all the way down to what is the latest coolest (or not cool) trend in food or music. We need to be better people. That starts by agreeing with ourselves (less self doubt), allowing ourselves to think calmly (more self care), and to be thoughtful about everything we do (more self reflection). A true challenge, to say the least. Here we go.

This song is dedicated to Mike Glorioso.

lyrics

_______________

Don't be scared
We are blind
We don't speak no more
We can't cry

I just heard a rumor
We said our last goodbye
By the time you noticed
I didn't want to try
When this all concludes
I'll tell you you were right

The perfect storm arrived
The wind assumed we cared
It said a silent word from the shadows over there

We've been jealous
We've been victims of ourselves
Pretending to claim peace and love, yeah?
But inside constant war

I wanna be the one
I wanna hear a story
About a time I wasn't me, no?
So the kids pretend to sing
A joyous choir indeed
But the lyrics mean nothing.

The perfect storm arrived
The wind assumed we cared
It said a silent word from the shadows over there

We've been jealous
We've been victims of ourselves
Pretending to claim peace and love, yeah.
But it's a constant war

The record slowly spins
We hear the fateful skips
The needle pops into our arms
As we move in quietly
I see your shadow creeping in
I feel your silent words
I hear you deafening
It's not fair! It's not right!
I'm not angry! I'm not fine!
Love is loaded and locked outside
Your voices haunt me they want me

To be jealous
To be a victim of ourselves
It's hard to keep one foot in front of the other
Because I'm in a constant war

We are scared, we are blind
We don't speak, we can't cry
